แม้ว่าจะพ่ายแพ้รางวัลออสการ์สาขาภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยมให้แก่ภาพยนตร์เรื่อง The King?s Speech ภาพยนตร์ขวัญใจ Geek อย่าง The Social Network ก็คว้าไป 3 รางวัล คือรางวัลภาพยนตร์ตัดต่อยอดเยี่ยม (โดย Angus Wall กับ Kirk Baxter) Original Score ยอดเยี่ยม (โดย Trent Reznor เจ้าพ่อวงการ Industrial Sound) และบทดัดแปลงยอดเยี่ยม (โดย Aaron Sorkin) ในงาน Academy Awards ครั้งที 83
ก่อนหน้านี้ The Social Network ได้รับรางวัลภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยมในเวทีลูกโลกทองคำไปแล้ว และได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงรางวัลออสการ์ถึง 8 รางวัล แต่ท้ายสุดว่าได้มา 3 รางวัลก็เป็นขวัญใจ Geek ได้อย่างดีแล้ว
ในด้านของผู้กำกับ David Fincher ก็แพ้ให้ Tom Hooper แห่ง The King?s Speech?s ส่วน Jesse Eisenberg ผู้สวมบทบาทของ Mark Zuckerberg ก็แพ้ให้กับ Colin Firth? งานนี้สรุปว่า The King?s Speech ได้รับการเสนอชื่อ 12 รางวัลและได้มา 4 รางวัล แต่นักวิจารณ์หลายคนก็บอกว่าสมควรแล้ว
